Yeesh, it’s April already. Funny to think that as of today, I’ll have been a homeowner for exactly three years.
Fooled you! It’s actually May 1st that I took possession of my house.
That… that was terrible. Let’s just get onto the video game stuff.
~ Now Playing ~
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate (3DS) – As much as I love Smash Bros, I have to say that if I were restricted to one single game for the rest of my days, it’d be a MonHun game. Preferably this one.
Majora’s Mask 3D (3DS) – If I had to choose only one Zelda to play forever? It’d be Wind Waker, but Majora is a very close second.
Hyrule Warriors (WiiU) – Yeah I’m still on this. The new Ganon’s Fury mode is too much fun.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (WiiU) – One of the secret best Wii U games available. It’s beautiful, has a stellar soundtrack, and is brutally difficult but still manages to be fun instead of frustrating. Also, Dixie. Retro gets it, man.
Dig Dug (NES) – I’m not very good at Dig Dug, but it’s one of my favourite arcade games. In fact, it might be the only NES arcade port I’ve bought on Virtual Console.
Pokémon Shuffle (3DS) – It’s gotten to the point where the stages are intentionally unfair to bully you into pay monies to win. I’m not doing that. I’d rather slowly grind my way to victory.
Donkey Kong Land (GB) – I remember being pretty into these DK Land games as a young’un, so I bought the first one out of curiosity. It… was not money well spent. This game is poop. Mostly because the jump physics are way, way off, which makes it more frustrating than it ought to be.
Mario Party 10 (WiiU) – I’m not so much actively playing this as I am playing it when I go over to hang out with my family. But it’s pretty awesome. Bowser Party is a gas.
~ Game Over ~
Adventure Time: Secret of the Nameless Kingdom (PS3) – At first it seems like A Link To The Past but with new graphics. It quickly grows its own identity, but it’s still deliciously Zelda-like.
Zombie Incident (3DS) – Retro platformer that I ended up liking despite having many reasons to dislike it. Short, but not especially sweet. Worth the $2 though.
Mighty Switch Force! 2 (3DS) – I didn’t really like the first one, despite how much I wanted to like it. And then somehow I fell in love with this one instantly. I credit the baby-punting. I paid less than $2 for it, but it’s worth the full $8-ish price tag.
Life is Strange: Episode 1 – Chrysalis (360) – A neat adventure game with a time-rewinding mechanic. Is otherwise based in reality, and was a nice change of pace from the wacky fantasy stuff I’m usually playing. Cannot wait for the rest of the episodes.
Alien: Isolation (360) – Scary and great at first! Then repetitive and boring in the middle. Somewhere in between near the end. Honestly, it was a forced push to finish this one. Good effort, but too long to be outstanding.
Shovel Knight (3DS) – Played through again to earn my “no deaths” and “no falling in holes” feats. And a smattering of other ones.
