Out of the Gloom

Spooktober season’s started over on TE Video… like, a week and a half ago, but whatever. I’m posting about it now. Because the video embedded below is doing unusually well, and might as well farm it out to a second set of web crawlers to keep that view counter climbing.

I wrote about this a little in August’s MEVGWU, but for the sake of making this post look more complete: Into the Gloom is a first-person indie horror from way way back in 2014. It uses pixel art, but has wonderfully creepy atmosphere and genuinely made me jump a couple times. There was a big update in 2024 (if I’m recalling correctly) that built out the game a lot, adding a huge amount of additional content to the campaign, which I think must have probably tripled the amount of game from the original release. New areas, new puzzles, new story, new endings… probably other things I’m forgetting as well.

In summary: I really liked Into the Gloom and highly recommend buying it to all fans of horror. If not, at least watch my let’s play. If not, at least watch someone’s let’s play.
