Month End Video Game Wrap-Up: February 2025

~ Game Over ~

Wedding Witch (PC) – A horny Vampire Survivors clone that I bought and played for a joke, but then I ended up spending 10 hours 100%ing it. Whoops!

Silent Hill 2 (PC) – I’ve been itching to play the original since finishing the remake last year, and a co-worker recommended I try out the Enhanced Edition mod, so I did. It looks good for sure, and it was nice to revisit a classic. Really drove home how much bigger the remake is, too. Livestreamed the whole thing, too.

Mario & Luigi: Brothership (Switch) – Should have finished this months ago, but the whole let’s playing process really slowed me down. I liked the game a lot, but would have liked it even more if the dialog was cut down by 25-50% and it was like 10 hours shorter. That also describes how I feel about most M&L games that came after Superstar Saga.

Butcher’s Creek (PC) – First-person brawler that has kind of a horror vibe, but is really more about straight-up violence and brutality. It’s jank as heck, but was a lot of fun and I’m very glad that I recorded my playthrough. That’ll be getting posted… in the summer, maybe?

Save Room (PC) – A puzzle game based entirely around sorting items in an RE4-like inventory. Not a bad way to kill some time, took just over an hour to 100%.

The Mute House (PC) – The newest indie survival horror game that takes place in a mansion full of zombies. It’s got some pretty good puzzles, a surprisingly expansive map, and just the right amount of enemies so that they don’t get annoying. Honestly the only major flaw I can find with it is that the first boss has way too much HP. I liked this one enough to play a second round on hard mode right after finishing my first run, and I’ll definitely play it again.

Scary Shadow Spot: Last Farewell (PC) – I can’t believe that Doesn’t Matter Games released a new game last September and Steam never told me. What are all those algorithms even for???? Anyway, it’s exactly what I wanted: a first-person haunted house simulator with a fair bit of goofiness mixed in. Perfect.

Wild Arms (PS1) – Welp, it sure is a PS1 RPG. And pre-FFVII at that (by a month), so it’s a lot more like a SNES RPG but with some polygons here and there. It’s got some unique little gimmicks though, and I really liked it! Sadly, it’s not nearly as Western-themed as I had expected it to be. Wrote many words about this one.
