I did it. Now I’m tired. Leave me alone.

After just slightly over a month of pissing around, I’ve finally finished the 2004 Christmas haul article. It’s probably rife with spelling errors, as I’ve been working on it since 10 last night. But now it’s done and I can finally go to bed. After I say one last thing.

I was reading over some of my old articles today, and found myself laughing quite heartily at some of them. I always thought my writing was just crap that people said was good to avoid hurting my feelings. Maybe that’s the truth, but I’m actually enjoying them, so I’ve got a little more reason to keep doing this. So anyway, enjoy the Christmas thing. I’m gonna do another one next time I get a day off. But I won’t know when that is until Thursday, so whatever. I’m sleepy.

I’m sure there’s something else i’m supposed to say now, but I’m too damn tired. It’s going to have to wait until tomorrow.

Year’s end update

It took me all damn day, but there’s a ton of new stuff up on the site. For one, I’ve updated the “crazy crap” page. Or started anyhow. It’s now a page solely for the works of my buddy Steve. It’s got 5 pieces on it now, three new. Most are now links. The rest will change soon enough. It’s under the Articles link, to the right, and then under “From the Mind of the Steve”. You can’t miss it. Well, you could, but you’re really be missing out. It’s got some good stuff.

Secondly, what may very well be my favorite article ever (in that it’s a huge blob of my favorite things) is complete. All in less than ten hours. It’s huge, it’s long, it’s got bigass pictures. You go and enjoy that now. You may not enjoy it because you feel differently, are a Playstation fanboy, or are a dumbass (X-Box fanboy), but it’s what I like, so HA! *points and laughs*

Another article will be done soon. You will come to understand it’s theme in due time, should you choose to read the one mentioned above. And I’m going to buckle down and do my big CD review soon too, so stay tuned for that. It’s a new year, and with it, I hope to get back to writing these articles. Work is really a big obstacle to overcome, but I guess I’ll have to give up some of my Ryan time for the sake of my site. I want to keep doing it, I do, but it’s just so hard to fit everything in now that I have to work and get proper sleep so I can work and not die.

So yes, that’s it for this year. I hope you had a good one, and I’m sure we’ll have plenty of good times in the next one. I’d like to reflect some more, but I’m trying to wrap this up so I can go and eat.. Me so hungy…

Why I need a Mac (plus mini-BOTM)

Things have gone from “worse” to “as bad as it gets”. Which, on the upside, is really more inconvenience than actual bad happenings. So yes, I’ve lost all my new site files (the old articles and crap are still safe), but fortunately, a good percentage of them are still hanging out on the internet, from where I can poach them quite easily. Poach was probably a bad word for that sentence.

So it’ll be awhile until I’ve recoved everything and resume the few things I’ve been working on lately. But you know what won’t take a little while? The band of the month feature. I know the title is all wrong, and it’s past the halfway through December point, but I’m not just going to sit here and let it go undone. It’s gonna be half-assed though, since I’ve got very little time to be updating. I really should be tending to my site restoration and Windows-loading. But meh.

This month’s band: Disturbed. Notice how I didn’t even bother to put in the picture. Yes, that’s how lazy this is going to be. So I quite like the band. As far as I know, they’ve got two CDs, and only one song has ever even made it close to mainstream. Of course I could be wrong, as when it comes to mainstream music, I really have no clue what’s going on. all I know is I saw the “Prayer” video on Much Music one time and that’s pretty much it. Anyway, back to what a good band Disturbed is. We all appreciate metal (or should anyhow), and Disturbed does a pretty good job on that front. At least on the first album.

The Sickness is the first of two Disturbed CDs, and probably the faoured one of fans. I’m not sure, that’s just usually the way things play out when a band makes two CDs that sound very different. So back to this. Again. It’s a great CD, which I only recently got around to purhasing.
It contains many great songs like the infamous “Down with the Sickness” and “Stupify”, which was featured on one of the Big Shiny tunes CDs of yore. Back when they had good music on them. Another great song is their cover of “Shout”, aptly renamed to “Shout 2000”. You know how I said HIM’s cover of “Solitary Man” was freaking awesome back when I reviewed their greatest hits CD? Well it’s like that – only more hardcore. My personal favorite song on the CD however, it the first, “Voices”. It’s a great song to start off on, and sets stage for the rest of the songs quite well. “The Game” is also quite a noteworthy track. All in all, excellent CD.

The newer release, titled Believe is not quite as good as the first, but is also a CD worthy of my praise. The main factor in this judgement is that fact that it’s a lot slower than the Sickness. I mean, of course, most of the stuff is pretty hard, but it’s also softer at the same time. It’s quite hard to explain. You’d have to listen for yourself to truly understand what I’m trying to get across. All in all though, it’s good CD, boasting some exellent tracks such as “Prayer”, “Liberate”, “Remember” and “Darkness”.

I’m really sorry this has to be so short, but I’m really pressed for time, and I just couldn’t let it go undone any longer. It’s not like I could have extended it much more without getting really redundant and going over the same things over and over again. But I guess I’ll go out saying that Disturbed is a great band, and I’m certainly looking forward to their next release. I just really need ot get to bed now. I’ve got work early in the morning, and I’ve already stayed up far too late. I’ll fix typos some other day.

Of course that goes there…

I’ve not posted in what may be ages. Though it may have just been eight or so days. Close enough. So what’s my explaination this time? Well, those new computer parts I bought haven’t exactly been putting themselves together. And apparently, I have no idea what I’m doing. Naw, I got it set up and shit, but it won’t load the Windows, and it seems that reloading Windows in the only way to make it work. I’m neither capable or willing to do that at the moment, so I left it sitting there for like a week, only now putting this one back together because of a serious case of the blue balls. A week is a long time to wait between these kinds of things.

So since I’m using the FrontPage-free PC (not by choice either. the good one’s still brokies) I can’t really update too well or efficiently. So I posted the next Work Blog, and while it’s not much, I’ve also got a related surprise for you waiting here. I know some of you will get your hopes up for more once you see it, and I do have some secret plans up my sleeve.

As for that mysterious ??? on the sidebar, I’m going to be opening up a new Angelfire account for it, so you can expect many great things, and possibly even a revival of what was the main attraction of my site before this blog came along… Band of the Month isn’t going to be around for a while still, and it’s killing me. I love the feature, but I just can’t bring myself to do the mass updating needed for it without FrontPage.

Now that I’ve cleared up any confusion about whether I’m dead or not (because someone out there was bound to think so), it’s back to video games for me. And while that may seem like a knock against site productivity, trust me – it’s not.

Placeholder title

I added the November archive to the, uh, archive. And all the sidebars and such. Still haven’t figured out the band of the month, but I’ve got it down to two. A new banner is on the way to commemorate a special occasion. You see that ??? On the sidebar? It’s not really the greatest of ideas, but I’ve got a special surprise in store. Though in reality it’s just kind of a way to minimize things I have to post on the articles page. Site productivity will be close to 10% of what it was a week ago due to the broken computer and its holding all my site files hostage. The next installment of the Work Blog will be up sometime this week, possibly tomorrow – and a nice little surprise along with it.

As usual, I’m sure there was something else I was supposed to tell you guys about, but I’ve forgotten. My poor attention span doesn’t have the kind of logevity necessary to type out everything I need to without getting distracted by something and forgetting stuff. So I guess this is the end of the post then, as I really have nothing more to say.

Of shitty crossovers

Just posting to let ya know that I added seven (six, really) new pics to the second art gallery. Most are of a single nature, while some are original, and is the horrifying result of my tendency to “improve” other people’s ideas. Other than that, nothing doing.

I would like to bring up the point that, when using the Opera browser (which I currently use), the post titles show up all small and wrong coloured. They look fine in Internet Explorer, and I’m sure it’s a simple matter of a misplaced < div >, but damned if I’m going to figure it out. Maybe I’ll do that tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow, expect my final impressions of the Nintendo DS. Later on in the week I’ll be bringing up some other choice items, such as Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and Viewtiful Joe 2 (the latter of which has gotten more attention than than both Metroid and the DS, amazingly). All great stuff, and I’m even gonna try my hand at some videos, so make sure you check back daily or so.

Stripped

Massive-type update today. And by that, I mean I finally got around to bringing the fabled Work Blog home. All is set up and ready to go. I even added the sidebar link for every page. So it’s up there now, totally unedited, except for I rearranged it so that it reads from top to bottom, making it easier on you guys. And a few minor things like spelling corrections and picture links (again, for comprehension purposes). On top of that, I got around to picking my Band of the Month. Huzzah! It’s POD! I knew I wanted them up there one of these months, and since I hadn’t figured out anyone else for this month, there they are. Review should be up either tomorrow or Saturday morning. Probably not tomorrow, because I’m spending the day completely cleaning out my room. Cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, getting rid of old crap; the whole nine yards. I’m going to Hell and back, but it’ll be worth it to have a more organized room.

Completely unrelated, my dad did a similar job on the living room today, so the couches and such were moved downstairs. For the first time in my own home, I had the joy of playing video games while sitting on the couch. It’s so much better than the floor or my bed. So much. For the sake of something to look at, I’ve taken some pictures of the endeavor. The front of the empty room. The empty dining area. The new mess in the basement. Playing GameCube on the couch! Crap piled on the table. So you see, there is many a thing to move back into place. Fortunately, all I have to do is help move the couches back. It may be the hard part, but it’s also the shortest.

And let’s get back to what Ryan’s really about: ten days until the DS launch! I’ve been really good about it up until now, and I think with ten days left, I have clearance to get excited. To make things better (and more expensive, too…) Metroid Prime 2: Echoes releases on the 15th, and Viewtiful Joe 2 is due out on the 19th. Luckily for me, those are the only games that I really want until January, when Resident Evil 4 and the GBA MegaMan Anniversary Collection come out. That gives me a few paycheques to save up for Christmas presents. and maybe for some stuff that isn’t video games. Cause I need some of that. Though I did just spend $100 on a jacket, so I guess I’ve done enough non-game buying for a while. At least by my standards.

Finally, my respects to all those fallen soldiers who we dedicate this day to. If it weren’t for you guys, I might not have so many freedoms, and I wouldn’t have earned time and a half today.

ADDENDUM (9:30PM): I just added a banner for Penny Arcade’s Child’s Play charity near the top of the page. It’s a great cause, and I even donated 5 bucks. I know that not many people will see it here, but I like the idea that I’m at least trying to help out. And you know, it’s nice to do good rather than evil once in a while. Make sure you check it out and if you’ve got the means, donate a couple bucks.

The end of and era

I actually did it. Just like I said I would. The twelfth and final Chat Radio is now up and ready for reading. You can access it here. If you’ve never heard of Chat Radio because you’re either a total dipwad or are new to the site, the archive is located right here. So yes. It’s pretty short and boring, so I’ve decided to simply steal the best parts and post them right here for all to see.

~ TE Astrology Time! ~

  • Aquarius: You will sleep long into the afternoon tomorrow. Getting up is difficult for you as you know you need to do the dishes. Weather will be to your liking. You will meet a beautiful woman who is interested in the same things you are
  • Pisces: You’ll notice that you’ve made some poor decisions lately and want to make up for them by making better ones in the future. A pair of Hulk Hands will solve your current biggest problem
  • Aries: Your love life is in trouble. Several people are out to get you, and financial trouble is on it’s way. The best course of action requires a big commitment and a rope.
  • Taurus: It’s time to clean up some large messes you’ve made in the past. A mop and bucket will be at your side in the weeks that follow.
  • Gemini: Luck is in your favor. Spend more time looking in places you normally wouldn’t. You will begin to question where your life is going.
  • Cancer: Everyone loves Cancer. I mean hates. Everyone hates Cancer. You should stay away from cell phones, microwaves, the sun, and pretty much everything else to avoid making your situation any worse.
  • Leo: Facial hair will do you no good in the near future. In fact, not much will, as you’ve got one heck of a bad luck steak coming on. Consider spending more time alone.
  • Virgo: Also known as “The Virgin”, your astrological symbol fits you to a tee. Cheese isn’t going to play a big part in your life any time soon. And watch out for holes.
  • Libra: This week is the perfect opportunity to unblock the bowel obstruction you developed three months ago. You will find yourself living in the room of your house that you least expected.
  • Scorpio: Seven. Remember that number, as it’s going to cost you a lot if you forget it. Poison is probably a bad thing to ingest, but give it a try if you’re feeling really lucky, because I see a miracle in the works for you.
  • Sagittarius: Your astrological sign looks a lot like the word spaghetti. This newfound knowledge will help you both in your personal and financial endeavors.
  • Capricorn: Your new favorite word is toaster oven. Yelling this word is ill advised, and should only be done in extreme cases. Try to eat an entire jar of peanut butter today.

Just a blog. About a new blog

So I’m at work the other day, and I’m on my break. It’s generally pretty boring, with nothing but solitaire and the john to keep me occupied. So I decided to start fooling around with the break room PC. And boy, have I reached a new low. I found an old version of FrontPage sitting around, and decided to check it out to see how the old version works. At first I was confused and afraid, but figured out a little bit how to work it. So I was practicing my HTML, and eventually, I had the start of a blog. So I’ve decided that every couple days or so, I’m going to write in this work blog. It’s not much, but it’s a way for me to while away my breaks. Maybe when I feel it’s done, I’ll put it up on the site and disguise it as something that might be interesting.

On the other hand, my PC is on the brink of totally screwed. My brother keeps downloading crap loaded with spyware, and I have to cleanse it at least once a day. We’re almost at the the point where we need to reinstall Windows again, and I’m dreading having to do that. On the upside, it seems that my Internet Explorer is broken, and not just the internet, so Opera’s working out just fine for me.

I’ve got a lot of things right now that I want to review, but I’m not sure if I’m gonna get around to doing them all. Firstly is the review of my CD collection, which I want to do only to rival my brother’s half-assed attempt. That one I’m doing for sure. Eventually. Some others I’m cosidering are reviews for MegaMan Zero 3 and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Both awesome games that deserve reviews. I’ve gotta get back to finishing the Disney World saga, and thankfully there’s only one more entry to go. There aren’t even any pictures in the next one, so I’ll have a tough time remembering everything. Though, I can’t say I did too much on the last two days. Damn. Now that I think about having such a good time there, I feel the need to go back. I wonder how long I’ll have to save with my current salary….?

If you hadn’t checked in a while, I updated the “Who Runs This Thing?” page a couple weeks ago. I’ll be putting up the final episode of Chat Radio on Wednesday or so. I plan to use tomorrow morning to edit it good, and it’ll be up the next morn. Oh, yeah, I guess I forgot to mention that I’ve been moved to the evening shift, so morning posts will be more common in the next while. Unless they decide to put me back on mornings after this week. So, to summarize, I’ve got a lot of little projects to do, and I really want to do less blogging in the next while and more actual content. The blog form is easy to do, but it rather boring for readers. Particularly when I maunder about what’s happening at work and such. So I’ll quit writing this now, and get to work on some more interesting stuffs. Like additions to the gallery.

Good riddance to bad work

I’ve been thinking it over, and I like my job, but I detest working. Full time, anyhow. It’s just way too much for the guy who’d never worked a day in his life to take in all at once. But I’m not going to give up because it’s a little rough, that wouldn’t be like me. Not anymore. I guess it’s time I started facing reality and stopped running from everything that showed even a slight sign of hard times.

But enough of my whining and revelation crap. I’m gonna start sounding deeper than I actually am. Ugh. So the band of the month isn’t decided yet, and I haven’t made the September archive either, as I’ve been working all morning and napping until like 20 minutes ago. Naps are great. They make me feel happy. You should totally try them out. All the cool kids are doing it.

I’ll have the BotM up either Sunday evening or some other time around then. as for the archive, that’s easy, so I’ll do it up now… or not. But first, there are important things to take care of. Things like links.

SuprNova.org – It’s not the site you need to see, but some things the site provides. Do a search “Mario Big Band” and download the result. It’s a sweet live performance of a bunch of Mario and Zelda tunes. Just the Wind Waker theme alone is worth downloading the entire package.

Halloween X-E – Matt’s favorite time of the year has come around again, and that means another Halloween countdown along with it. That’s one article – albeit a short one – a day. No wonder I idolize the guy.

GameFAQs – Character Battle #3 is nearing it’s end, and it’s looking to end up much like it did last year – with shitty results. Don’t let that weener Cloud win again. Help fight the good fight by voting for anyone else and telling your friends to do so as well.

Shopping for Danger – The third installment in the best G.I. Joe parody ever – Cheat Commandos! How could you possibly resist? Rock, rock on!
