Month End Video Game Wrap-Up: October 2025

~ Game Over ~

The Trees Holding Heaven (PC) – A teeny-tiny “horror” game, which is mostly just a parable about not disposing of science water in the forest. It did legitimately cause me to scream, so that’s a thing.

Ramona – Play With Me demo (PC) – You ought to know how I feel about Doesn’t Matter Games by now. This is the demo for an upcoming title. It’s… exactly what you’d expect if you’re familiar with the developer. I liked it!

The Moth Inside Me (PC) – A horror game made for the “2024 LSD Game Jam”, which should tell you all you need to know. Great atmosphere, and some parts definitely resonated with me. While I think it was often a little too hard to figure out what to do next, I did enjoy it overall.

Peglin (PC) – Finally cleared cruciball 20 with regular Peglin.

In the Drink (PC) – An indie game about scooting around in a submersible and helping little alien buddies. Cute, and a fun enough way to spend 15 minutes.

Hypnagogia (PC) – PS1-looking first-person platformer about travelling through dreams. Not strictly a horror game, but the various worlds do get more and more dark and disturbing as you go. Kinda sad that it took less than an hour to clear, to be perfectly honest.

Dragon Quest Heroes (PS4) – This is mostly what I played in the first half of October. It’s not spooky in the slightest, but finishing it before Pokémon Legends Z-A released was important to me. Also, I ended up enjoying it way more than my initial impressions would suggest. I’m pretty gassed to play the sequel! …in like 15 years from now.

A Lakeside Walk in the Dolomites (PC) – A 20-minute walking simulator with a fun surprise ending. Not at all what I expected!

The Sewer Job (PC) – Another 20-minute indie game, though this one is about doing menial tasks in the sewer while some creep stalks you. Also it’s a little bit incredibly janky, but not in the fun, charming way.

Nocturne (PC) – Technically only finished chapter 1, but I think that’s the most I’ll ever play of this one. I think I would have liked this in 1999, but it doesn’t really resonate with 2025 Ryan.

Silent Hill (PS1) – The Halloweenies were done by 7:15 this year, so I said to myself “this is the perfect opportunity to run Silent Hill again.” And so I did.

~ Progress Notes ~

Fatum Betula (PC) – About half of the endings found?

Pepper’s Puzzles (PC) – Did a few puzzles

Pokémon Legends: Z-A (Switch2) – Rank B

BALLxPIT (Switch) – I don’t know how to measure progress here

Silent Hill 2 (PS5) – Blue Creek Apartments
