~ Game Over ~
Minishoot’ Adventures (Switch2) – All my thoughts here.
Peglin (PC) – All Cruciball levels for all characters are finally complete. 400+ hours later, this game is DONE. At least until the next update.
Back to the Future: The Game (PC) – If I were a bigger Back to the Future fan, I’d probably have stronger feelings about it, but as things are, I just think it was a pretty average episodic adventure game. I can’t say that anything about it really stood out besides the IP, which, as far as I can tell, was used to the fullest.
The Bunker (PC) – The first of many (five) games by indie developer Cyber752 that I played this month. This one is a fairly straightforward adventure-style game where you go on a camping trip with friends, only to end up trapped and alone in a haunted bunker. Fun to explore, but the climax was a little too erratic for my tastes.
The Survivor (PC) – This next one is much more rudimentary, being a resource-management-type of horror game, somewhat like FNAF. But in space. It suffers a bit from poor explanation of the game mechanics, and a seemingly random chance of winning as you play. Not one I’d recommend.
Night Shift (PC) – You know how I adore horror games that are about completing menial tasks, right? Well this one has you cleaning up a pizzeria during overnight shift. And also avoiding ghouls that are out to kill you. This one’s surprisingly a little too easy, but I had a good time.
Paranormal Investigation (PC) – Part Observation Duty, part Phasmophobia (I think), entirely not for me. Mostly because the rules are unclear and the game asks you to spend way too much time hiding in lockers. Gave it an honest try, but called it quits because it just wasn’t doing anything for me.
Dark Mine (PC) – The last -and somehow my favourite- of the Cyber752 games, despite it being a cat-and-mouse kind of game, which I typically find more annoying than anything. Much to my surprise, I was actually disappointed when it ended, because I was having a lot of fun and wanted to keep playing. Oh well!
Whispering Lane (PC) – Another indie game, but by a different solo dev. This one is a fully-featured survival horror game that takes strong inspiration from RE7 and Silent Hill. Unfortunately, it suffers from an extreme lack of polish, and the second half of the game is nothing but headaches. Not so bad that I want my five bucks back, but I would never recommend it.
Nightmare Shift (PC) – I had this on my Steam wishlist for months because it looked extremely up my alley. Then it released, and I played it, and I was so very disappointed. Most of the horror here is in the meandering dialogue and the boilerplate story. Bad jumpscares, barely any gameplay, and nothing but rough edges. Could have used a little more time in the over, I think.
Resident Evil Requiem (Switch2) – Second playthrough, on hard mode this time. Just as good as the first time around, if not better!
