What’s your price for flight?

Ryan is back! Oh, right. I went on vacation for the long weekend. I have many items and foods and other stuff to talk about! Maybe I’ll sum them all up at once in… an article? Naw. I never write those things anymore. We’ll see.

The best thing of all, is that this morning I woke up to a pulsing blue light. It was my Wii, and Nintendo was informing me of a firmware update. It didn’t seem to do much, but by gum it’s awesome!

Look! The Wii can now tell time!

I’m just curious why it didn’t do this from the beginning. It seems kind of obvious. Anyway, even though I’ve got like three clocks in my room (I like to know the time), I’ve been pining for a clock on the Wii since I got the damn thing, so this makes me happy. Also, they redid the Wii Shop, and it’s a little prettier and somewhat more functional now. There’s still room for improvement *coughXboxLiveMarketplacecough* but I guess it’s pretty good for what it is. No good Virtual Console games this week though, which is a bummer. But it’s okay, I don’t need any new VC games, as I’m still not even halfway through Paper Mario.

In my heart you’ll never love again

I logged onto the Wii shop channel this morning in hopes that maybe Nintendo uploaded the weekly bunch of VC games early. That’s really the highlight of my Mondays, so I was really hoping to get some classic goodness before I had to head off to work. When I got into the shop though, something was decidedly wrong.

Looks as though for a little while, the Wii Shop just went all crazy bat shit. As you can see, all the graphics went nuts, and nothing was clickable. I don’t know if it just loaded improperly (when I tried again five minutes later, it was all fixed), or if Nintendo was updating it (hopefully to add a new console) and let the code get mucked up a bit along the way. Here’s hoping it’s the second one. Either way, today’s new games aren’t up yet. I’m actually hoping against anything good this week, because like I said yesterday, I’ve got quite a lot of comic to work on, so having StarFox 64 accessible to me would just screw that over completely.

Are you heartless?

Band of the Month time, yo. But I think an image of an album cover is enough to trigger the synapse that tells you that you don’t care to read this blog post. Fuck you.

Anyway, this month’s band is a relatively small-time group called The Main Event. I found ’em on MySpace (actually, they found me… spooky), and I’ve gotta say that they’re a pretty good act. I got a message from them a while back asking to vote for them on the Ernie Ball/Music Man Battle of the Bands. Why? So they could win a spot on the 2007 Taste of Chaos tour. As it stands, there’s a slim chance I might actually make it to Taste of Chaos this year, so that’s cool. I doubt they’re ahead (hell if I’m going to check), but I’m asking you to go vote for them too. I rather like them, and it would kick major ass to see them live.

Anyway, I also purchased their CD. It’s only six songs, which is really disappointing. And they’re not long either, so it’s not like Deep Purple or Dream Theater where they make up for few songs with long songs. The good thing is that it’s really good, and I heartily recommend it. It’s six dollars, so what have you got to lose? If you’ve got a Paypal account with six bucks, pop over to their MySpace page and click the “buy now” button. You can also listen to four sixths of the album on that page, so it’s all up to you. Just for reference though, the two songs that aren’t on their MySpace page are two of the best ones. Frankly, I think “Heartless” rocks all over the place, but “Neverland” and “Burning Inside” are each as good as their three other songs combined.

In summary, I like The Main Event. Best band I’ve found through MySpace to date (though that’s not to say that there weren’t any other spectacular ones). Big recommendation for them, and I can only hope their next CD is as good as Built From Scratch, possibly a little longer too. 23 minutes is just a little too short.

In other news… I dunno. Sketchbook… Tuesdays? OopsBruce Campbell in a sweet Old Spice commercialIt’s rerun week on Ugly Hill. With commentary!Reason to get a 360? Oh yesYay new Wario!

Push push

I got an e-mail today informing me that CausticTruths.com has added me to their links. Their many thousands of links. I’m slightly confused by it all, considering it’s the website for a metal magazine, but hey, I guess it’s kind of neat.

On a slightly more exciting note, I only have to suffer thorugh four more days of a Wii-less existence. To celebrate, a link to IGN’s superb Wii Launch Guide. While its not all up yet, there’s still more than enough info for those of you who need it before making a decision. Or maybe you’re just really excitied about the Wii and want to read more about it.

Burnin’ like wildfire

Okay, a couple things to sort out today. Firstly, I’ve completed this week’s comics for Coozy For Hire. You still have to wait to see them, but I think they’re some of the best yet. CFH’s for both art and writing, and Spare! because it’s beautiful and involves StarFox.

Secondly, this is the greatest thing ever. The fact that it’s actually in the game’s code is awesome, and I hope that the next time Nintendo re-releases OoT, they put it somewhere for everyone to see.

And the last thing I need to note is that… Um. I seem to have forgotten what it was. It wasn’t important then. But holy crap, I just realized that I started the last seven blog posts with the word “so.” Somebody get me a fucking thesaurus. Or a professional writing class of some sort. Oh, and also I did the whole MySpace thing. I’m such a whore.

Never turn your back on it

Yep. I know I didn’t post an article last week. And so the streak ends. It was a good run though. Anyhow, I’ve been at the cottage for the last four days, and damn did I get a lot accomplished. Most importantly, I learned to bake pie. This is probably going to end up a bad thing though, because now I can create pie whenever I want, and it’ll likely be my downfall. Secondly, I finished Kingdom Hearts 2 with a 100% completion rate. It was a bitch, but I did it. I’m proud of myself. And the game was pretty awesome too. A little easy due to Forms being totally broken, but fun no less. So now, links!

Remember when I went nuts over the prospect of Biker Mice From Mars on DS? Trailer! While it certainly looks like it could be good, they really need to inject some, oh, I dunno, action into it. Not a whole lot going on there.

Best internet mashup video ever. Even better than all those Zidane headbutt collections. There must be dancing!

I know I’m really late on this one, but if you haven’t seen the PS3 vs. Wii vid yet, hurry up. Hot chicks in boy shorts are always excellent promotional tools.

After just over a week of being under repair (felt like forever though), Tyler’s back!

I finally got my hands on Remastered Tracks Rockman Zero 4: Physis. I heartily approve! Even the drama tracks (which are diaogue explaining the story, and entirely in Japanese) are pretty cool. Sample, anyone? (right-click, save as)

Only good for the latest trends

I’m about halfway through this week’s article, and I’ve gotta say, I’m really having fun with it. This is the kind of article I started the site to write. I’m pretty sure that you’re gonna enjoy it to. Especially if you’re a fan of any of my biggest influences. Here’s a snippet to keep you on the edge of your seat:

Ryan : It looks like syphilis.

ShadowMan : Is that an educated comparison?

Ryan : I blame the internet.

ShadowMan : Please just mix it. I think it gave me a dirty look.
