Monthend Video Game Wrap-Up: April 2020

~ Game Over ~

Mega Man Zero 2 (GBA) – I played it again, this time using cyber elves to blow through the game like it weren’t nothing. Also I finished getting all the styles, except the one for collecting all the cyber elves. Because… I just don’t care enough.

Resident Evil 3 (PS4) – Fantastic remake. I never really got into the original RE3, but this one is just made for me. Yeah, it’s a little linear, and yeah, it’s a little more action-oriented, but those are things I like! At least, they make for less of a headache when you’re trying to route out your S-rank runs. Anyway, my first run was far from S-rank, and I died a spectacular number of times because this game is ROUGH.

Pikmin 2 (GC) – The debt is absolved, but Louie is lost! Will I finally rescue him for the first time ever? We just don’t know!

Resident Evil 3 (PS4) – Second run was on assisted (easy) mode, because I just wanted to rack up some bonus points and get a good feel for the route. I actually ended up coming in just 5 minutes over the S-rank cutoff time.

Resident Evil 3 (PS4) – So then I played it (on assisted) again, and shaved 40 minutes off my time! Turns out you can completely ignore Jill’s visit to the hospital. All you lose is the magnum, but on the plus side, you get to avoid a bunch of stupid hunters.

Resident Evil 3 (PS4) – Back to standard mode to attempt the S-rank. It was a rough run, but I still managed to claim a 1:54. The difficulty gap between assisted and standard is staggering. There’s so much less ammo around and the monsters move way faster. I promise I’ll stop doing an entry for every replay after this month 😉

Ring Fit Adventure (Switch) – I finally –finally– made it to the end! 23 worlds and 34-ish hours and gallons of sweat later, it’s over. Oh, but then there’s the hard mode NG+. I guess that’s good, because I need to keep exercising.

Final Fantasy VII Remake (PS4) – Holy heck, another really excellent remake. There are tons of things that I like about it, and a couple things that make me look down and mutter “well, yeah, that’s not so great…” Far too many musings to fit in a single paragraph, at any rate.

Final Fantasy VII Remake (PS4) – Oh yeah, and then I played it all again, because apparently that’s what I do now.
