Month End Video Game Wrap-Up: October 2024

~ Game Over ~

Visions of Mana (PS5) – Played some more to wrap up the post-game. There are some really cool little additions to the NG+ mode, but I don’t think I really need to play this one again just yet. Maybe in a couple months.

Peglin (PC) – This is the game that doesn’t end, it just goes on and on, my friend…

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom (Switch) – Very good game! I really liked how it took pieces from a lot of other Zeldas and glued them all together to make an incredibly unique entry in the series. I wouldn’t say it’s world-shattering or anything, but I definitely look forward to inevitable replays.

Zoochosis (PC) – Half zookeeper simulator, half Cronenbergian body horror. I’ve technically “beaten” it twice because there is, to my knowledge, no actual fail state, just different endings based on how well you play and what secrets you find. Both of the endings I got were definitely bad endings.

Until Dawn (2024) (PS5) – One of my favourite games of all time, completely rebuilt in a new engine with improved graphics and a few neat little additions. But the character animations haven’t improved as much as the visual fidelity, so the uncanny valley is much… deeper? Also, the controls are weirdly broken at times. Lots of room for improvement when it gets remade for PS6.

A Night on the Farm (Switch) – Fun little indie game about, well, spending a night on a farm. It’s abandoned, of course, and there’s more to it that meets the eye. Took about an hour to play, and I got 3 of the 5(?) endings.
