Month End Video Game Wrap-Up: February 2024

~ Game Over ~

Peglin (PC) – ‘Nother run for the new patch.

Power Wash Simulator (PC) – Completed all the Midgar content.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales (PS5) – Good follow-up. It’s not quite sequel-sized, but also is quite a lot more substantial than the average DLC expansion. While combat can get annoying and sometimes feels cheap, picking off guys one at a time in stealth mode is so very satisfying.

Half-Life 2: Episode 1 (PC) – Sadly, feels like a low-effort expansion pack to the base game. Essentially just takes all the existing assets, jumbles them up, and then cranks the difficulty up a few notches.

Aperture Desk Job (PC) – Free, 20-minute “tech demo” for the Steam Deck, which I instead played on a desktop PC. It was pretty funny, so 20 minutes well spent.

I Did Not Buy This Ticket (PC) – A surreal visual novel about a woman who travels from funeral to funeral on a strange bus. It was neat, and I’ll likely play it at least once more to try to get a different ending.

Steelrising (PS5) – I’d never heard of this prior to it being a free game on PS+, but I’m so glad I took the time to play it. This is a soulslike action RPG, but with the “soulslike” part toned down so that it’s way more fun than frustrating. It’s still hard! But it could be a little harder… even the toughest boss in this game is easier than the first real boss in Elden Ring.
