For anyone out there who may be unawares, Cap’n Crunch is currently my favorite garbage cereal brand. Peanut Butter Crunch would be the winner for individual cereal, but realistically I’ll take whatever the Cap’n is offering. I also say “currently” because Fruity Pebbles used to have the top spot until just a few years ago, and I don’t know if, how or when my tastes will change moving forward.
All of that I a very roundabout way of saying: I really want to try the Cap’n Crunch pancake mix!
I haven’t done the research to learn any actual facts, but Cap’n Crunch’s Berrytastic Pancake Mix first showed up on my radar in early 2020. Of course, since it’s exciting new junk food that I want, it has not been made available in Canada. (We just got crunchberries cereal as a regularly-stocked item this summer.)
I actually had a couple friends planning a trip to the USA back then, and they had agreed to collect a box of the mix and the Cap’n’s Ocean Blue Maple Syrup for me. And then COVID happened and the border closed and my hopes of eating pancakes that taste like crunchberries were dashed forever.
Well, probably forever. I don’t know if either of these products are still available. I may never know, because I’ve already resigned to not doing the research, as previously mentioned. But I will always have sweet dreams of crunchberry-flavoured pancakes and… whatever flavour that syrup is. Blue, I suppose?
