The streets are filled with regret

There are three reasons I’ve neglected to post anything over the past week. Firstly, and most dominant of the trio, is that one way or another, I’m going to be moving the site again. Mike has gone and found a new web hosting service, and that means if I’m going to keep blogging on his dollar that I have to move with him. However, I’ve been seriously considering finding my own web host. I’ve been looking around for a bit, and I’ve found one that seems to have all the things I need, so I may very well take my web-fate into my own hands after three and a half years of relying on someone else.

The second reason is that I’ve had no will to write at all lately. I’ve been devoting most of my computer time to Coozy for Hire, and I don’t feel like working on anything else on the computer. I’ve got plenty of things I want to write about or at least give plug in the blog, but this whole graveyard shift business is really taking it out of me. Was everyone who told me it was a bad idea right? Yeah, probably. I still love the work, but the hours are really starting to get to me. Not to mention that I have to start half an hour early every day and manage to get clockblocked for at least twenty mintues every weeknight. That’s just not cool.

The last thing that’s been keeping me astray is thinking about the future. And not just the overall future, but the future of this website. Like what the hell am I going to do with it when I’m done? Will I just let my hosting run out and let it become nothing than a memory? When am I going to decide to call it quits? Am I going to be able to let go or will I kep updating until I die because I don’t want to just throw away something I’ve invested so much time and effort into? Why do I bother doing it all anyway? I get no significant pleasure from writing, and nobody really visits anyway. These thoughts are driving me bonkers, and have helped chop away at my zeal for webmastering. So I don’t know what’s going to happen next, but likely I’ll get a rush of enthusiasm if I get my own webhosting, like I did when I escaped the clutches of Angelfire. Anyway, we’ll just see, and you can expect that I’ll update you whenever something related to any of these issues happens.

There will be an answer, let it be

It’s been a while since I announced that I’d be writing a new article, and to be honest, I still haven’t done it. On the upside, I did write a totally different one out of the blue. While it’s not a boring video game review, it is basically a 1400+ word sales pitch and an excuse to make a really flippin’ sweet banner. I did try to work some wit similar to that found at WWTDD into it, so if you enjoy that site, then you should maybe read my crappy article. Or give me money! That’s a great idea!

Begging aside, I did a little work to improve the unity of the site, and now the menu bar at the top of (most of) the article pages is all blue rather than red, and the articles page has also turned blue. Red and black is so overdone, and I want my site to look a little original. Also, I want it to look like all the pages belong together, so making the colour scheme “universal” is probably a good way of starting that. I don’t know if I should redo the articles entirely in the same colour, or if I should leave them unique from each other. I’d like to hear some opinions about it over on the forums.

How ’bout a revolution?

I’ve completed the main bit of sidebar editing. There’s still some unseen stuff to do (unless you can’t see CSS formatting for some reason, then it’s going to get ugly), which I’ll get to a little later. The important changes are simply some moved/removed links. Nothing big. All the other pages featuring the sidebar will be updated in good time. Probably not today though. Just make sure you check out the links under “Friends of TE” as they’re almost all pretty cool sites. End transmission.

If you could see my thoughts, baby you’d agree

Good news everyone! I’ve finished yet another article! To tell the truth, it’s been done and up on the site for a few days now, I just never bothered to announce it or put a link to it on the articles page. But all is in order now, so go check it out.

Also I moved a couple (like two or three) articles off of Angelfire. So, uh… yeah.

It’s burning me up, I’ve heard it enough

I’ll get right to the point: there’s a new thing for you to read. Go here to read it. You know, if you think it’s worth reading.

EDIT: Yo! Check out the sexy new header for the side bar. I’ll have to make a new banner too, now that it’s the only thing that doesn’t match.

EDIT 2: Bored as I am, I’ve rigged up a new, more fitting banner. It’s simple, but it’s just a placeholder until I can think up something a little better.

A perfect drug for the fashion queen

Added a new link to the ol’ sidebar. Yeah. Check it out.

Really, I just wanted to try out this neat little GIF maker I got. I think I’ve got the hang of it. Though now that I really think of it, I commonly chastise people for using GIFs on their websites. But one won’t hurt anybody, right? Right?

Oh, and you should totally visit that link. Plenty of good times for those who do.

Everyone’s a captain, baby, ship of fools

As promised, there is a new page up in the CD collection. It’s the biggest one yet, though it’ll be beat out in time. I’ve also finally gotten around to uploading some more stuff to the old DeviantART account, so check that out too. There isn’t anything new (to my recollection), but it’s always fun to go back and see old stuff again. Why do you think I keep archives of everything?

Something else I’d like to make note of is that I’ve been participating (for lack of a better word) on the internet a little more lately, and getting my name and link out there. Mostly I’ve been posting all over the place and “networking” over at Last.fm, and I think it’s working well. Not only am I getting more varied visitors, but it’s also exposing me to some really good music. I also made a comment in the X-E blog the other week and it roped in over 20 unique hits. Not a lot by internet standards, but far more than I’d normally get. This is kind of a downer for me, because it’s proving that I have to be sociable to succeed. Oh well.

You and me have a disease

So I got an E-mail from my dad today. Turns out he’s an “administration co-ordinator.” I did not know this. It sounds pretty important though. Well, enough of this bullshit.

Up until today I’ve been using FlashFXP for my uploading needs, and it’s a pretty great program for someone like me who barely understands the concept of FTP. But sadly, none of the registartion keys out there on the internet worked, and my trial run ended today. I had to do something about it, because for reasons I can’t explain, normal FTPing through IE doesn’t work. I rememberd a while ago when I tried to get myself set up on Keenspace that I had to muddle around with an FTP thinger to get that done. That’s why I gave up. It was far too complicated for me, and I quite before I could even get a second comic ready. Anyhow, now I’ve downloaded SmartFTP again, and it’s still annoying me. I guess the only good thing about Angelfire was the easy file browsing interface business. Oh well. That’s really all I have to say today. I just wanted to complain about shit for a while.

Oh, and the February archive is up and a nice big CD collection entry will be ready by the end of the week.

I could be an accident

Just thought I’d let you know that since I had a full day of nothing on my hands, I’ve finished up that one non-review I mentioned a couple weeks back. Yes, it should have been done long before today, but I’m lazy, you know. Anyway, that’s up and I’ve started production of the next article (pics are done, just need to write it) which likely won’t be up until next month sometime. But that’s only like six days away, so chill. Damn, I’m really starting to ramble, so I’d better end this. Ryan ou…

Actually, you should also note that I stole the hover-over-and-show-text technology from Penny Arcade and used it on this post’s title. Expect to see it all the time in the future. (ED: Or never if you’re reading this on the WordPress-powered site)
