If you’ve been following this website for a while, you probably know that sometimes I will do an advent calendar-like daily feature from December 1st to 20-somethingth. It started as the 23 Days of Materialism<\/a>, in which I highlighted something that I thought was cool each day. It was both a way to show off things I liked and also sort of a stealthy way to give people gift ideas for the holidays. In later years, I would try to spice up<\/a> the formula with different themes<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, I’ve decided to turn the feature on its ear, and so I introduce to you the 24 Days of Desire<\/strong>. This time around I’ll be listing a bunch of things that I would like to<\/em> have, as opposed to things I already own. It’s… not really that much of a difference, but I feel like it’ll allow me a little more space for creativity. That, and it guarantees I don’t have to go out and buy a bunch of things to write about. Woop woop!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now that the stage is set, I’d like to start off with something fairly easy:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Television.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

I obviously don’t mean that I want a<\/em> television. I’ve got one of those, and it’s sufficiently large, and probably still has quite a few good years left in it. No, I kind of wish that I had a subscription<\/em> to television. Like, cable, or whatever they call it these days. I haven’t ever had cable since I moved out on my own, and I almost never miss it. TV used to be huge for me, but I’ve long since made the transition to living a life where DVDs, Netflix and YouTube are more than enough to meet my passive entertainment needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then Chucky<\/em> happened. You may or may not be aware that I am a huge fan of the Child’s Play<\/em> series of films, wherein a possessed doll embarks on a number of killing sprees. It’s honestly one of the most genuinely enjoyable horror movie franchises out there, because it learned early on to really lean into how silly the concept is. Chucky<\/em> is the continuation of this series, but in TV form! So it goes without saying that I’d really like to watch it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alas! Chucky<\/em> is currently only available through the Global TV app (which needs a subscription to television), and two other paid apps that I’ve never heard of. It’s not happening. I’m sure that in the near future, Chucky<\/em> will be made more widely available, but for the time being there is no way for me to watch it without signing up for yet another monthly service. Which I am not going to do. I already have more than enough subscription services eating away at my wealth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I mean, yes, there’s always piracy. But I’d much rather give money to people who are creating things that I like, as a way of encouraging them to keep doing so. So for the time being, I’m just going to have to wait it out.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
