Still trying to clear it in under an hour. Still always choke on at least one of the final bosses. This time I got killed by Sigma and then also Wolf Sigma. Choked twice! I’m getting rusty!

Picross S4 (Switch) – I solved every damn puzzle. Sometimes twice because the Mega puzzles are still hard-mode repeats of the standard puzzles.

Runner 3 (Switch) – Incredible music, weird and wild art direction, and abusively hard gameplay. Even with the difficulty options at the absolute minimum, I was not able to clear every stage. In my defense, the ones I couldn’t beat are labelled “Impossible.” Enjoyed it for the most part, but some of the stage mechanics are just mean-spirited.

Witch Hunt (PC) – I really liked this horror-themed hunting game. It’s got some rough edges, but considering that it was made by one guy? It was heckin’ good! You can watch me play it here.

The Legend of Zelda (NES) – I’ve never taken stock of how quickly I, a not-expert, can get through this game. It turns out that it’s a little under four hours. Probably could get it down to three if I memorized the path through Death Mountain. And didn’t get killed seventeen times.

BOXBOY! + BOXGIRL! (Switch) – I thought this would be a pretty quick one to polish off to make some space on the Switch, but… it’s a really beefy game! There are so many levels! And once you beat it, even more unlock! Good thing I really like BOYBOX, or it would have been an absolute slog. Also it’s a tiny game and contributed nothing to the fridge-cleaning effort.

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (NES) – HOOOOH geez I’m glad to have finally muscled through this game, but never again. You can watch my playthrough here, or just read a thing I wrote about it here.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES) – Basically just a nice walk in the park after Zelda II. Having replayed it just last year, I even remembered where all the heart pieces are. Nice! Video series… eventually.

Astro’s Playroom (PS5) – A short platformer that feels strongly inspired by Super Mario 3D World. Very cute and mostly very fun, except for a few of the controller gimmick levels. I really appreciate how it’s a celebration of the history of PlayStation, and the secret final boss is fantastic.

DOOM Eternal (PS4) – The main game is complete, somehow. After the sixth mission I turned the difficulty down to easy because HOO BOY, this made Zelda II look like a cakewalk. I mean, DOOM Eternal feels a lot more fair, but it is absolutely merciless. Also the final boss is an absolute slog. I don’t know if I really want to play the DLC…

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening (Switch) – Carved through it in a weekend. Not so much because it’s short, but rather because once I started playing, I didn’t want to put it down. This is my favourite Zelda legend, after all. Also, played on Hero mode, which was tough but fair.

~ Progress Notes ~

Röki (Switch) – Completed Chapter One.

Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 (Switch) – Episode 1 / Stage 5

Control (PS4) – Enacted Directorial Override.

SINoALICE (iOS) – From now on, just assume I’m always playing this.

NEW YEAR, NEW YOU!
