A metroidvania with excellent 2D artwork and a very fun brawler-like combat system. Too bad the game is bugged in a way that makes 100% completion impossible!

Mega Man (GB) – All the Game Boy Mega Man games got dumped onto Nintendo Switch Online recently, so I played them all! This one is incredibly basic and there’s not much to say about it other than hey owned this as a kid!

Mega Man II (GB) – My friend owned this when we were little kids, and it was the first Mega Man game I ever beat. That should be a good indication of how surprisingly easy it is. An absolute cakewalk, and not all that fun.

Mega Man III (GB) – Then Capcom went and over-corrected, and we get this. MMIII is brutally hard, but mostly because the game seems to have been designed around “gotcha!” moments more than a proper difficulty curve.

Mega Man IV (GB) – They finally got it right! The difficulty is finely-tuned here, and the general design steps away from just copying the NES games. I’d like nothing more than to declare this the pinnacle of Game Boy, but…

Mega Man V (GB) – This is easily the cream of the crop. Instead of just re-using bosses and stages and weapons from the NES games like the rest, Mega Man V is a completely unique game. And it’s all the better for it! A truly excellent game.

Quest for Camelot (GBC) – A Zelda-lookin’ game that’s on NSO for some reason. Played it out of curiosity and… well, I feel like the proverbial cat. Not a very good game at all. Slow, tedious, and has bosses with like a million hit points. AVOID!

Picross S8 (Switch) – It’s more picross. What else is there to say?

Animal Well (PC) – Holy heck what a wonderful little game. A metroidvania that is more than happy to let players figure out its many, many, many secrets all on their own. The sense of discovery is strong with this one.

Willy’s Wonderland (Switch) – A cheap, low-quality tie-in for a movie that came out three years ago. I bought it because I happen to be a big fan of said movie, fully expecting for the game to be hilariously bad. It’s really just kinda boring, though.

Killer Frequency (PC) – A fun mystery/adventure game wherein you play as a radio host who helps keep people from being serial killed. There’s a YouTube series coming for it soon, if you want my detailed opinions.

Wario Ware Inc (GBA) – One of my earlier writings. My feelings have not changed.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (Switch) – Honestly, I think the fact that it took me over a month to beat this probably says enough. But if you can’t read between the lines: it’s both a long game and I opted to savor it.

~ Progress Notes ~

None!

~ Purchases ~

Fashion Police Squad (PC)

Lorelei and the Laser Eyes (Switch)

Picross S8 (Switch)

Willy’s Wonderland (Switch)

~ Game Over ~ Cookie Cutter (PC) – Got this one in a bundle, and it’s definitely been one of those games that came out of left field and is awesome.
