The F List

Last Update : 11/9/05

Artist: Firehouse
Title: Bring 'Em Out Live
Tracks/Duration: 15/1:07:04
Best Song: Lover's Lane
Worst Song: Intro

For the record, let me say that there is no real best song on this disc. They all kick ass. Firehouse is great, and they rock so much harder when live. That is to be expected of course. I was just disappointed that the "Intro" track has you thinking they're gonna play "Rock on Radio", but they never do. Other than that, there's nothing bad I can say about the CD. Oh wait, there is one thing: You can't find this - or any other Firehouse CD - in Winnipeg. I had to travel all the way down to Grand Forks to find this baby, but the trip was totally worth it. My only regret is that I didn't pick up any other Firehouse CDs while I was there...

Artist: Firehouse
Title: Super Hits
Tracks/Duration: 10/44:50
Best Song: Reach for the Sky
Worst Song: When I Look Into Your Eyes

The single exception to the problem stated above about Firehouse. But on the downside, it's not much of a collection. Most "Hits" CDs have between 15 and 20 tracks, but you get a measly ten with this disappointing "third party" release. There isn't anything wrong wiht the music that is there however, it even includes a few lesser-known songs from the band like "Love is a Dangerous Thing" and "In Your Perfect World", which delights me to no end. Of course, it also contains a handful of very well established songs. Well, as well established as Firehouse gets. I swear, nobody I know has ever heard of this band. WTF?

Artist: Foreigner
Title: The Very Best... And Beyond
Tracks/Duration: 17/1:12:59
Best Song: Prisoner of Love
Worst Song: Head Games

The issue with Foreigner is that I like half their songs and dislike the other half. Fortunately, this CD managed to stuff in mostly songs that I like, so it's not so bad. But still, I can't help but sometimes feel like I bought this CD just because I had the money to spare. There are plenty of great songs like "Soul Doctor", "Jukebox Hero" and "Say You Will", while annoying tracks like "Urgent" are far fewer in number. On an entirely separate note, this is one of the very rare occasions where I genuinely dislike my choice for worst song. Most of the time I have to struggle to figure out which song I like the least (like with the Firehouse CDs), but not this time.
